This is such a sharp take. The Bloomberg terminal really has become as much a cultural artifact as a functional edge. I like how you frame the distinction between status signaling and genuine alpha. Most investors would benefit far more from refining their research process than from renting prestige at $30k a year. The idea that “process and perspective” outweigh tools is a point too often overlooked in finance conversations.
I think terminals like Bloomberg, or Refinitiv are helpful for having some “non-standard” data in one place, mostly macro. For purely equity analysis, some tools such as TIKR terminal, are pretty much free and cover most of the needs.
I feel like the allure of a Bloomberg Terminal is not that their data cannot be found anywhere else, but that it’s all in one place, easy to use. For the average investor it’s not useful though imo
Terminal for brokers & apis 👍
For research no
And what about finding obscure biotech stocks?
BI biotech-pharma catalyst calendar is useful
But not necessary- BB intelligence is a nice time saver
Ofc it is

Keep up the good work! I'm rooting for you.
Thanks man, keep up your good work as well!
Nice post. Those who need a terminal the most are the ones at the SEC.
Can’t agree more 🤣

100%, would say Koyfin as well

Really good take! I 100% agree with u on this, but maybe not this easy to use at first but yeah, maybe Capital IQ is more simple tbh.
I used a Bloomberg for 30 years as a HY salesman on The Street. I use Koyfin now and it suits me fine.
Koyfin is amazing and really easy to use I agree! I currently use Capital IQ, since I have free access to it aha.
Couldn’t agree more! Personally I like using Capital IQ and while I don’t really use it, I only heard good things about Koyfin as well.
Thats definitely the way! Im just lucky to have free access to Bloomberg & Capital IQ ahah!
